TMT Rebars – Choose right, the first time

Building a home is not an easy job as there are hundreds of factors that go into play to ensure a sturdy construction. From choosing the right construction material to employing the most feasible structure, each and every aspect of building construction is of vital importance.

There is no doubt that steel bars are what form the base for a solid and durable construction. It is the agility and strength of TMT bars that enable the building to withstand various adverse conditions for a period of time. TMT stands for Thermo Mechanically Treated and TMT bars are typically deformed steel bars used in reinforced cement concrete (RCC) work. These bars are known to have superior properties such as strength, ductility, welding ability, bending ability and highest quality standards.

During the thermo mechanical treatment, steel bars get intensive cooling immediately after rolling. When the temperature is suddenly reduced to make surface layer hard, the internal core is hot at the same time.  Due to further cooling in atmosphere and heat from the core, the tempering takes place. This process is supposed to enhance properties such as yield strength, ductility and toughness of TMT bars.

According to construction experts, it is very much necessary to choose superior quality TMT Rebars as they build the foundation of a tough structure. Moreover, this decision is typically taken at the start of the construction work so there won’t be any option to replace the bars once building is done. Therefore, one should always choose the best quality TMT bars.

Due to their exceptional strength & ductility, these bars have been widely used is the construction of bridges, flyovers, dams, high rise buildings, industrial structures, general purpose concrete reinforcement structures, and underground structures etc.

Other advantages of TMT Rebars:

  • Enhanced Structural Safety
  • Ease of Work
  • Fire Resistant
  • Resist Corrosion
  • Formability
  • Earthquake Resistance
  • Malleability
  • Fine Welding Features
  • Cost-Effective
  • Longer Life
